Pommard

Joannès, son of Thierry and Estelle, fifth generation in a long line of winegrowers, took the reins of the estate after studying in Beaune and working with his father.

Thierry Violot-Guillemard passed on an estate rich in prestigious wines – Pommard, Meursault, Volnay, Chassagne-Montrachet... – and also a strong idea, which had been brewing for a long time in the family, since the grandfather had said: “ No junk in the vineyards.” Noting this, and rethinking his relationship with the living, Thierry adopted the precepts of organic farming in 1999, with the aim of maintaining the life of his soils so that the vines better resist diseases.

This is also the idea of simple winemaking, because the work is in the vineyard, and thus letting the terroir express itself frankly, with delicacy.

Joannès continues the work of the estate, digging and extending the furrow: in 2023, he chose to age some of his red wines in ceramic containers, to try.
