Loché
Le Clos des Rocs is a 13-hectare wine estate in the heart of Mâconnais. It bears the name of its largest plot, an enclosed monopoly of 3 hectares enclosed by a dry stone wall. Olivier Giroux, who comes from a seven-generation winemaking family, acquired it in 2002 to convert it to organic farming in 2006 in order to reestablish biodiversity and peasant common sense.
If this choice requires great involvement in the work – often manual – of the vines, it is pleasant to come across the sheep grazing there, at the time of pruning, and the land produces high quality grapes, simplifying winemaking. Since day one, Olivier has worked with Éric Michaud, the estate's historic oenologist. Together they aim for the purity and pleasure of wine.
